Why DELL battery plugged in, but not charging?
1. Please check whether you get the right new battery. You can check its model number, battery voltage, the shape and so on. (Note:generally, battery voltage 11.1V is compatible with 10.8V, 14.8V is compatible with 14.4V).
2. Please confirm if the problem come from the adapter.
(1) Power off system
(2) Power on system, quickly start tapping F2 key continuously.
In the BIOS, look for AC adapter type, if it says none or unknown then it's a problem with the adapter and most likely needs to replace with a Dell genuine adapter. Note: Please wiggle adapter while checking it in BIOS. The battery should say 'Battery Is Performing Normally or Excellent(The battery health should be listed under the Advanced tab.)
If the adapter type is none or unknown, then you need to reset the BIOS, maybe the adapter will be ok. Please list your Dell model number and version of windows. Ex: Dell latitude 12 7480, windows 10. Then you will find the right way to reset it according to this.
Please power off system and remove all peripherals. Remove AC adapter, battery and then press 'Power On' button for 15 seconds to release Static Flea Power. Replace battery, adapter, power on system, quickly start tapping F2 key continuously to get into BIOS. Please Reset the BIOS to Default Values and see if the BIOS will then detect the new AC adapter.
If the BIOS still doesn't detect the new AC adapter, then the problem from the adapter, then you need to replace the adapter.
If the BIOS can detect the adapter. Then the problem may come from the laptop or come from the battery.
3. Then you can refer the DELL after sell support to confirm the problem.
Hope these are the thing you need.
